Copywriting: Script by Greyhound

Advertising has changed a lot since I started out as a copywriter back in 1985, when the fastest, cheapest way to get a video script from Austin to Houston wasn't fax or FedEx. It was the freight compartment of a Greyhound bus! I'd take it to the station at 8:00 a.m. My client would pick it up at noon.

These days that same script can be emailed in an instant, for free, though maybe now it's a landing page or a podcast or something else that didn't exist in ‘85. Advertising platforms change.

Telling Your Story Whatever form your message takes, it's still about persuasion. And at heart, persuasion is still story. It's about what your product or service can do for your audience. The art of the ad is the same, then and now.

My Story I've been a professional writer all my life. I was writing ads when the internet was just a gleam in Al Gore's eye. I've been around the alphabet block a few times, and my reasonable rates are just right: high enough for me to make a living and low enough to keep you coming back.
